My studio is a creative, collaborative community where students grow into confident, well-rounded musicians.
Drawing from my experience as a solo and collaborative pianist, music truly comes alive when we listen, share, and perform together.
In 2017, I helped revitalize the Menuhin Music Program at The Nueva School, honoring Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s vision of Music for All. That spirit continues to guide the community we’ve built here.
Through this comprehensive approach, I aim to cultivate high-quality, well-rounded musicians who are creative, who direct their collaborations, and who will continue to make music an integral part of their lives.
Through the years of being a solo and collaborative pianist, as well as mentoring students, I have come to realize that music comes to life outside the studio. Collaboration happens when we connect, share, and listen openly.
As an ever-evolving pianist, I learned the power of collaboration; in ballet, music can catapult a dancer across the stage, or it can be the light on the lake that transforms the swan into Princess Odette. The listening and corresponding in a chamber playing is a skill I treasure. There’s nothing more satisfying than being carried by an involuntary energy through music playing.
Through leading the Menuhin Music program. I learned the importance of cultivating a music community among young musicians. ‘Music for All’ was Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s vision when he established the program, and I am proud to be part of his legacy. Building a music community resonates deeply in my studio practice.
My teaching philosophy centers on these values, emphasizing the importance of holistic musical development. We give back to the community by performing in community outreach concerts, cultivate a sense of community by playing with partners, and attend concerts to learn from world-class musicians.
